Front Page
The Ellenville/Wawarsing area offers a great variety of wonderful interesting people, eateries, farm fresh food, fantastic views, fresh air and a plethora of parkland, cultural, architectural and natural resources for the naturalist, historian and sportsman alike. That combined with all the great personal service of our local business people - from friendly banking and pharmacies to our great tradition of hospitality and local specialties you will find all that you are looking for right here in our little town —nestled inside the bosom of the Shawangunk ridge.
A great legend of our area centers around a dream of an old miner named Benny who whilst dreaming is led to a spot here on the ridge by an old Indian. There the Indian shows Benny a cave filled with riches beyond his wildest imagination and as the story goes Benny spends the rest of his life searching for these riches. The truth of the matter is that all of us living here have found Benny's treasure and are living amidst it. If you come here — you may be fortunate enough to find it too.
Whether you choose to visit, settle or locate your business here you will find a welcoming and friendly recreational, living and business environment to support you no matter what your denomination.
We have a very active Chamber of Commerce, many local clubs, and our town and village governments as well as our development corporations stand ready to assist you in whatever way we can.
